You can palpate to feel for the abdominal aorta.  Use a flat palm or outstretched fingers.  It will usually require you to depress the abdomen and can be difficult if the patient is obese or is very muscular.

  There are 2 more common pulse points he didn’t mention. The Popliteal, found behind the knee cap and the Femoral found in the groin area.
